Categories

Categories section allows you to neatly organize all your grocery items under logical, searchable groups so your customers can shop smoothly.

At the top right of the interface, you’ll find three essential action buttons:

  • Delete
  • Export
  • Add new (Add Category, Add Sub-Category)

Below that are two functioning buttons. One is a search bar for easy finding and next is a dropdwon button where you can specifically select on the basis of merchant type or all.

Here you can see a sorted table with the following columns like image, name, merchant types, sub category, status(Toggle to Block or Unblock the category), action (edit, delete copy ID).

+Adding a Category

When “Add Category” is selected, a pop-up form appears where you can:

  • Select Merchant Type
  • Enter Category Name
  • Upload Category Image
  • Tap “Add” to save and create the new category.

+Adding a Sub-Category

When “Add Sub-Category” is selected, a separate pop-up form opens:

  • Select Category
  • Enter Sub-Category Name
  • Upload Sub-Category Image
  • Tap “Add” to save the sub-category

No. Creating a Category under a Merchant Type is mandatory, but Subcategories are optional. You can create products directly under a category without a subcategory.

No. Each category is linked to only one specific merchant type. This ensures item segregation and merchant-specific product display.

  • Go to Category > Add New > Add Category
  • Select a Merchant Type
  • Provide the Category Name
  • Upload an Image representing the category
  • Click Add to save

There are two ways:

  1. Go to Add New > Add Subcategory, select a Category, name the subcategory, upload an image, and click Add
  2. Or, expand a category using the plus (+) icon and click Add Subcategory directly there

Yes. You can either:

  • Use serial numbers for manual arrangement
  • Or use the drag-and-drop interface to reorder them easily

Yes. Use the block/unblock toggle to deactivate (hide) or reactivate (show) a category or subcategory without removing it permanently.

The Copy ID feature allows the admin to copy the unique identifier of a category. This is useful when importing bulk products that need to be mapped to the right category.

Yes. You can:

  • Import categories using a specific Excel format (download the sample sheet)
  • Export the current list for offline storage or record-keeping

Deleting a category will also remove all of its linked subcategories and associated product data. It is advised to reassign or export data before deletion.

Yes. Use the search bar to quickly locate any category or subcategory using keywords.

The structure should follow:
Merchant Type → Category → (Optional) Subcategory → Product
This ensures accurate classification and easy navigation for both admin and users.
